Spring Season Of Anime 2017

İmage

Last year I made a thread about the spring season of anime 2016. I did the thread to make others interested in what seemed to be an unusually interesting season of anime. However now 1 year later it seems like this years spring season might even surpass the previous years. I will provide a list of 5 of the anime I find most interesting in this season. However this does not include second seasons or sequels of any kind. Hence even though a lot of people are excited for the new second season of Saekano, Bahamut, Berserk etc, I will not cover them in this list. There is no need for me to hype them since the only ones interested in watching those do not care whether or not I recommend them.

Before I begin with my list let me quickly mention the by far two most anticipated anime of this season, Boku no Hero Academia and Shingeki no Kyoujin.

İmage
Shingeki no Kyoujin (Attack on Titan)

Spoiler: Thoughts
When Attack on Titan first aired it became the talk of the year, as well as the following year. The 24 episode long series was an action filled gore adventure which had all its viewers on the edge of their seats throughout each episode. However due to it being an adaptation of a monthly manga, the sequel was predicted to not be aired for many years. It took 4 years but we're finally here, the sequel is about to unfold and we're going to join Eren, Mikasa and company in their hunt for the Titans. Having read the manga this time, I expect a lot of this new season. I will not share further thoughts due to the risk of spoiling.

Spoiler: Plot
Eren Jaeger swore to wipe out every last Titan, but in a battle for his life he wound up becoming the thing he hates most. With his new powers, he fights for humanity’s freedom facing the monsters that threaten his home. After a bittersweet victory against the Female Titan, Eren finds no time to rest—a horde of Titans is approaching Wall Rose and the battle for humanity continues!

Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia)

Spoiler: Thoughts
It's fitting that this was the first anime I covered in last years thread. And now it's time for its second season. I have never really been a fan of boku no hero academia, however when I read it became slightly more interesting where the first season left off, which makes me kind of interested in this series. As I also mentioned in last years thread, this anime is brought to us by Bones studio, which is famous for doing good shit!

Spoiler: Plot
Izuku has dreamt of being a hero all his life—a lofty goal for anyone, but especially challenging for a kid with no superpowers. That’s right, in a world where eighty percent of the population has some kind of super-powered “quirk,” Izuku was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. But that’s not going to stop him from enrolling in one of the world’s most prestigious hero academies. Now, the only thing standing between him and his first class is the academy’s formidable entrance exam—nothing a little private tutoring from the world’s mightiest hero can’t solve.

Now that we got those two out of the way let's begin with the real list! The following 5 anime are the 5 anime I look forward the most to next season. None of them are second season or have any kind of prequel. If you feel like checking out any of the new interesting series this season I highly recommend one of these series. I will further down on the thread mention a special mentions and a list provided by Crunchyroll of the most anticipated anime of the season according to the Japanese viewers.

İmage
Fukumenkei Noise (Anonymous Noise)

Spoiler: Thoughts
Fukumenkei NOISE is one of my personal favorites and without a doubt the one I look forward to the most this season. However since it's mostly due to my interest in romance and music anime, it only receives #5 on my list. If you do enjoy the anime I definitely suggest you check out the manga afterwards! This season only contains three manga adaptation which I've followed at one point or another, I prayed for so long that A-1 Pictures would not get this one! So when it was announced that Brain Base had received the rights for Fukumenkei NOISE, I felt like I had won the lottery! I am certain that the anime will be a success no matter how many episodes, I also believe that it will rival Beck in the challenge for the best music anime!

The trailer does show more than one would think after having looked at it. It shows that it will follow the manga to the dot! Which is a great thing considering that the best thing in Fukumenkei NOISE is the back story between Alice and the two guys. In the choice of voice actresses and voice actors I have no doubt that Brain Base will deliver!

Spoiler: Plot
Nino, a girl who likes to sing, experienced two farewells in the past. First, with her first love, Momo, and second, with Yuzu, a boy who composes music. But upon those two farewells, she made a promise with each of them: to continue singing until they find her voice again. Time has passed, and now these three are in high school...?!

Busou Shoujo Machiavellianism (Armed Girl's Machiavellism)

Spoiler: Thoughts
Having watched a lot of shows I have already had my fills when it comes to anime featuring high school, magic, battles and obviously harem... BUT, there is one exception to this I've found. Among all the shows every season which features these elements, so far there's only ONE show and ONE studio that managed to pull it off well. And that is Silver Link. Having made a major reformat of the studio, keeping on the best parts, it's a relatively new studio. But since the reformat, it's brought us Masamune-kuns Revenge, Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry, Non Non Biyori and Kokoro Connect. In other words its more than just a super amazing name :3...

Anyhow from the trailer we can see that the anime surely does feature a lot of cliches like, the "boy meets harem in school" setting. However the main character have a very unique personality and in classic Silver Link fashion the anime is classified as a "romance" and not "ecchi" nor "harem". Just like Rakudai Kishi. I am certainly looking forward to this anime.

Spoiler: Plot
The Private Aichi Symbiosis Academy was originally a high school for high-class girls. When it became co-ed, the girls, out of fear, asked to be permitted to bring weapons to school. When that was enforced, a five-member vigilante corps-like organization called the "Supreme Five Swords" was also formed.

After many generations, the five swords eventually became a group which corrected problematic students, and the academy started proactively accepting such students in order to correct them.

Nomura Fudou was sent to this school after being part of a huge brawl. What will he do when the only options he has after enrolling are being expelled from that school or being corrected the way the rest of the male students there were...by being forced to dress and act like a girl!

Seikaisuru Kado (Kado The Correct*)

* There's no official English title yet, the translation is brought to you by the almighty Silver Heart

Spoiler: Thoughts
3D CG anime have become very popular as of late, with both Ajin and Berserk leading the way. The next piece that promises greatness might be Sekaisuru Kado. The plot sounds very interesting and the set of voice actors/actresses combined with the quality of Toei Animation, it feels like this can't go wrong. The anime is based on the manga with the same name, however I have not read nor do I know anyone currently reading the manga and can therefore not comment on it. But the trailer on the other hand looks really interesting and way more realistic compared to similar shows like "Gate".

Spoiler: Plot
Kojirou Shindou. Cabinet Office Director-General for Policy Planning, is at Haneda Airport for a business trip.

While the plane is on the runway, a giant structure suddenly appears out of thin air. The plane carrying Shindou and 251 passengers is taken undamaged inside the giant structure. After everyone disembarks, a man who looks like an ordinary human being shows up. He assures those from the plane that they're not in any danger. Shindou asks him to identify himself and explain the situation. Then the outside of the structure is displayed on a large screen, and at the same time, every passenger's cell phone starts ringing all at once. On each cell phone screen is a message from this man, to every one of Japan's citizens: "I, Yaha-kui zaShunina, hereby notify you that I am going to intervene in Japan's internal affairs."

What is this young man's goal? And will Shindou manage to become an intermediary between Japan and the Anisotorons...?

Alice & Zouroku

Spoiler: Thoughts
This anime is brought to us by J.C Staff, a studio which is amazing in its own rights. They have produced a lot great anime, some of which are widely considered iconic in its own right, Toradora and Bakuman for example. They have spit out a few bad shows as well, but considering the line up and story this time, I am hoping for a new masterpiece! This is the show of the season to wait for all episodes to have been released and then just sit down and enjoy the adventure these two protagonists are experiencing. Sakurabi, the Director have been directing both Toradora last years Flying Witch, both of which he's been praised heavily for.

Spoiler: Plot
A group of young girls possess a mysterious power known as "Alice's Dream," which gives them the ability to turn their thoughts into reality. Detained and experimented upon, these youths are locked away in secret until one of them manages to escape. Her name is Sana—a girl with the power to ignore the very laws of physics. When this willful powerhouse crosses paths with a stubborn old man named Zouroku, his carefully-ordered life will never be the same again.

Clockwork Planet

Spoiler: Thoughts
From the brilliant mind of Kamiya Yuu-sensei, Author of No Game No Life among others, Studio Xebec brings us the adventure of a lifetime! It's not my favorite studio, actually it's one of the few I dislike after what they did to Mahou Sensei Negima... However I am too excited to see the author of No Game No Life's new anime project! Not too much have been released about the actual anime as of yet. What we do know is that the staff is experienced with this kind of anime and have been brought in for this project specifically. Clockwork Planet is based on the Light Novel with the same name.

As far as the story goes, this anime seem to be more intellectually challenging than Kamiya-sensei's previous works. With the genre Sc-Fi, drama and romance I am expecting a very different adventure from No Game No Life, but hopefully just as exciting.

Spoiler: Plot
Everyone on the Clockwork Planet considers Naoto Miura a machinery nut. Every moment of every day, he has his mind on gears and his hands tinkering with delicate mechanical motors, but nobody understand how he can hear and feel gears in operation, even from a long distance away. Then one day, a clockwork maiden falls from the sky, presaging events that would shake the whole world...

Spoiler: Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho
Spoiler: Plot
Year 526 of the Liturgical Calendar.

The world knew that witches existed, and that they practiced the notorious art of sorcery. Nevertheless, the world did not know anything about the study of magic.

Our story follows a half-man, half-beast mercenary; humans mockingly call his kind the “fallen beasts”. He always dreamt of becoming a human, but one day, he met a witch who would change his life forever.

“Do you desire a human form? Then be my escort, mercenary!”

The witch introduced herself as “Zero”, and explained that she was searching for a one-of-a-kind magical tome that bandits had stolen from her lair. Entitled “The Book of Zero”, the grimoire supposedly contained valuable magical knowledge that could be used to effortlessly bring the world to its knees. Thus, in order to realize his dream of becoming a human, the mercenary must accompany Zero on her journey—despite her being one of the witches he so loathed.

This is the story of a haughty sorceress and a kindhearted beast.

Spoiler: Girls Top 10

* There's no official English title yet, the translation is brought to you by the almighty Silver <3

RE: Spring Season Of Anime 2017

Wow the girls really have better taste! XD

I will be sure to watch AoT season 2, have been really hyped for that since forever ._.
Also Seikaisuru Kado (Kado The Correct*) sounds like a very nice Anime, on the poster it says: "Kado: The right answer".

And ofc Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho ._. I kinda have to watch everything with Mahou in the name xD

@Silver, thank you for the list!

(03-23-2017 12:00 AM)Silver Wrote:  Last year I made a thread about the spring season of anime 2016.

Masamune's novel illustrator, pen name "Eromanga", draws extremely perverted drawings, and is very reliable.

There's a lot of good anime this season, and it's incredible hard to know which ones are the best ones, hence I will make a similar thread after this season is over, but instead as a review of the series.

So which anime will you be watching this spring? Did anything catch your eye? If you want to check out all of the anime this season you can visit this page.10. Atom The Beginning - 102 votes
